Vientiane: The Information and Publicity Committee has announced that preparations are nearly complete for its role in supporting the 12th National Games, set to take place from 15 to 25 November 2025. The committee is structured into three main units: the Secretariat Unit, the Publicity Unit, and the Live Broadcast Unit, which together cover both radio and television. With more than 90 percent readiness across all areas, the committee is poised to play a crucial role in the Games.
According to Lao News Agency, Mr. Somsavath Phongsa, Head of the Mass Media Department of the Party Central Committee’s Propaganda and Training Board and the Information and Publicity Committee, informed reporters on 5 November 2025 that preparations have been made in a comprehensive and systematic manner. The committee has actively instructed media organisations nationwide to collaborate in promoting the Games’ logo, mascot, and slogan, and in highlighting the athletes’ preparations from various provinces. Draft plans for work, personnel, and budget have been submitted to the Secretariat for approval.
A News Centre has been established at the National Stadium at Km 16, complete with a press conference room and two working rooms for journalists. Historical photographs detailing the National Games’ evolution will be displayed at the venue. Media teams are already in place to interview organising committees and cover the Torch Relay, which has passed through six of the nine districts, with the remaining districts to follow. The registration process for issuing service cards to journalists is nearing completion.
Mr. Somsavath further outlined the committee’s key responsibilities, which include registration and accreditation processes for media organisations, both domestic and international. The committee is also responsible for managing the news centre, ensuring it is equipped to support journalists. Media personnel management involves coordinating with local and international media, while live broadcast scheduling is organized in conjunction with the National Secretariat and the Technical Competition Committee to cover the Games’ key events.
Journalists will be stationed at each competition venue to ensure comprehensive and continuous coverage across various media platforms. The committee is also tasked with documentation and exhibition, including recording still images and videos, compiling event data, and preparing exhibition materials for approval by the Organising Chairman.
Mr. Somsavath Phongsa urged all Lao media organisations to prepare thoroughly to deliver accurate, timely, and comprehensive coverage of the 12th National Games and related events.
