Khammouane Business Leader Urges Public Participation in NA, PPC Elections

Khammouane: Thaiyaphone Singthong, President of the Khammouane Provincial Chamber of Commerce and Industry, emphasized the importance of public involvement in the upcoming elections for the 10th National Assembly of Laos and the 5th Provincial People's Council. He stated that these elections are a testament to the ongoing progress of the democratic system in the Lao PDR.

According to Lao News Agency, Thaiyaphone, representing the provincial business community, highlighted that the regular five-year elections play a crucial role in strengthening representative institutions. These institutions are vital in safeguarding the rights and interests of the multi-ethnic Lao populace and contribute to enhancing the national legal framework through the enactment and revision of laws, incorporating public feedback.

He pointed out that the candidate selection process for both the National Assembly and the Provincial People's Council has prioritized individuals who are qualified and adhere strictly to Party guidelines and state laws. In Khammouane Province's Electoral District 12, there are 14 candidates vying for National Assembly seats.

Thaiyaphone mentioned that the nomination process, involving various sectors, has been instrumental in raising public awareness about civic responsibility. It reinforces the principle that state power belongs to the people, is exercised by the people, and serves the people. However, he acknowledged that there is a continuous need to increase public understanding of electoral rights.

On behalf of the provincial business community, he urged all eligible citizens aged 18 and above to actively participate in the elections. He stressed the importance of selecting capable representatives to enhance governance and national development.
