Vietnam and Laos Sign Major Deals on Urban and Agricultural Projects

Vientiane:Vietnamese and Laotian firms have signed agreements to undertake significant projects in property development and smart farming, slated for implementation in 2026. The initiatives include the Supchaleun Central Tower complex and a smart farm, designed to foster cooperation in urban development and high-tech agriculture between the two nations.

According to Lao News Agency, the signing ceremony was graced by the presence of Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam, representatives from Lao authorities, Vietnamese agencies in Laos, and business entities from both countries.

Supchaleun Group Chairman Anousack Keochaleun expressed confidence in the Viet Nga Group's capabilities and professionalism, highlighting the strategic ties between the business communities of Vietnam and Laos. He anticipated that the projects would significantly contribute to Laos' urban infrastructure and high-tech agricultural development.

Viet Nga Group Chairman Nguyen Quoc Viet stated that his company would manage the projects from planning and design to construction and completion. He committed to adhering to Lao laws and regulations, employing skilled personnel, and utilizing modern construction technologies to ensure high-quality and timely project delivery.

The Supchaleun Central Tower project in Vientiane will span 4,600 square meters and include two interconnected 15-storey buildings featuring apartments and commercial facilities such as shophouses, offices, restaurants, and more. The project, with an investment of over 21.2 million USD, is expected to complete in 2.5 years and generate approximately 25 million USD in revenue within five years.

The first phase of the Smart Farm project will see an investment of more than 8 million USD and cover 94 hectares. It will integrate high-tech farming, ecotourism, and a circular economy model, featuring workshops, fish and shrimp farming ponds, and fruit tree plantations. Advanced water filtration systems and solar power will support operations.

A catfish farming system is projected to supply one to two tonnes of market-ready fish to Vientiane daily. The project also includes a 40-hectare coconut-growing area linked to a processing plant. By-products will be used to produce biofertiliser, reducing waste and costs while enhancing agricultural value, with an expected annual net profit of nearly 930,000 USD.

These projects aim to create new business opportunities in property development and smart agriculture, further cementing economic ties and the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Laos.
