Vientiane:Leaders in Vientiane participated in an alms offering ceremony on the occasion of Boun Ork Phansa. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Atsaphangthong Siphandone, Secretary of the Vientiane Party Committee and President of the Vientiane People's Council, and Mrs. Soumaly Thammavong, Secretary of the Chanthabouly District Party Committee and Head of the 5th Legislature Vientiane People's Council Member Delegation for the district, along with local officials and devotees.

According to Lao News Agency, Boun Ork Phansa signifies the end of the three-month rainy-season retreat observed by monks and novices. This event involves the offering of alms and sangkhathan, or supplies for the monastic community, which is a deeply rooted Lao Buddhist tradition promoting generosity and merit-making.

The occasion is also linked with Pavarana, a monastic observance where monks invite one another to provide constructive advice and highlight any shortcomings, with the intention of fostering improvement after spending the retreat period together.
