Bangsamoro Inaugurates First Dialysis Center in Lanao del Sur

Bangsamoro: The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region inaugurated its first dialysis center in Lanao del Sur on Tuesday, marking a significant milestone for health care in Muslim Mindanao.

According to Philippines News Agency, the facility was opened at the Dr. Serapio B. Monta±er Jr. Al-Haj Memorial Hospital (DSBMMH) in Malabang. The Ministry of Health of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MOH-BARMM) Minister, Dr. Kadil Sinolinding Jr., expressed pride in the realization of this “dream come true” for the region during the opening ceremony of the 10-machine facility.

The new center, which is part of the Health Facility Enhancement Program, offers advanced dialysis equipment and also houses new units for stroke care, microbiology, and public health. “Patients facing kidney issues now have access to these services right in the heart of the community,” noted Sinolinding.

Hospital chief Dr. Hanipah Madale-Monta±er acknowledged the support of PhilHealth and the BARMM leadership for their role in upgrading the 150-bed Level 1 hospital, which originally began as a 10-bed emergency facility in 1981. The development is part of broader efforts to improve healthcare services in the region.

In March, the MOH-BARMM facilitated the transfer of PHP62.1 million worth of medical assets to government health facilities across the region. This included ambulances and medical assistance grants, further enhancing the capacity of local health services.
