Over 1.5K Security Forces Deployed in Ilocos Norte for May Elections

Ilocos Norte: A total of 1,533 personnel from the Philippine National Police (PNP), including 164 from partner agencies, have been deployed to various parts of Ilocos Norte to ensure that the May 12 midterm elections in the province will be safe, peaceful, and credible.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office (INPPO) stated that its units have been on full alert status since May 3. INPPO chief Col. Frederick Obar reported that no election-related incidents have been noted, and the peace and order situation remains stable.

INPPO disclosed that at least two police personnel have been stationed near polling centers and other strategic locations to act as first responders and maintain security and order before, during, and after the elections. Additionally, Quick Reaction Teams consisting of 146 uniformed personnel have been positioned across the province to address any potential incidents.

Col. Obar assured that the INPPO has adhered to non-partisanship, emphasizing that all proactive measures are part of its mandate to ensure public safety. INPPO also reminded the public to adhere to election rules and avoid engaging in prohibited acts such as vote buying and selling.

The Commission on Elections has issued Resolution No. 10746, banning the selling, furnishing, offering, buying, serving, or consumption of intoxicating liquor on May 11 and 12, 2025. Violators of the liquor ban may face imprisonment of one to six years without the possibility of probation.
