Consultation Meeting Held to Prepare for Hosting AMMSTI-22

Vientiane: The Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) convened a consultation meeting on February 2, 2026, to assess progress and preparations for the upcoming 22nd ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Science, Technology, and Innovation (AMMSTI-22), which is slated for June 2026.

According to Lao News Agency, the meeting took place at the Ministry and was presided over by Mr. Kingmano Phommachack, Vice Minister of Education and Sports. It saw the participation of representatives from various relevant departments and sub-committees. Mr. Kingmano Phommachack expressed that the meeting's objective was to provide a platform for sub-committees to report their progress, discuss detailed work plans, and enhance coordination to ensure comprehensive preparations for AMMSTI-22. He highlighted that hosting this meeting is a significant achievement for Lao PDR, underscoring its role and readiness in fostering cooperation in science, technology, and innovation within the ASEAN framework.

The Vice Minister encouraged all sub-committees to improve coordination and fulfill their responsibilities with diligence to ensure the organized execution of both AMMSTI-22 and the 89th ASEAN Committee on Science, Technology, and Innovation (COSTI-89).

Additionally, he directed the sub-committees to accelerate consultations and concentrate on critical areas, including the preparation of meeting content and technical documents, logistics and protocol arrangements, safety and security measures, financial management, and information and public relations activities.

The collective efforts of all involved parties aim to guarantee the successful organization of the meetings and create a favorable impression on ASEAN member states.
