Vientiane: A grand ceremony celebrating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam was held in Hanoi, with President Thongloun Sisoulith of the Lao PDR joining Vietnamese leaders and delegations from China, Russia, and Cambodia.
According to Lao News Agency, in Vientiane, Lao Party and State leaders participated in a live video broadcast of the event at the National Culture Hall. The gathering was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Gen. Chansamone Chanyalath, Phankham Pheuyavong, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Propaganda and Training Board, along with senior officials from Party and government bodies, the National Assembly, the Lao Front for National Development, mass organizations, the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos, and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Vientiane. Vietnam’s National Day on September 2 marks the victory of the August Revolution under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, when the Vietnamese people seized power, declared independence, and established the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, which is today’s Socialist Republic of Vietnam. This milestone has guided Vietnam on its path to independence, freedom, and self-determination.
Over the past eight decades, Vietnam has achieved progress in green and sustainable development, industrial modernization, and improvement in people’s living standards. The country has maintained political stability, safeguarded peace, and expanded foreign relations, with its international standing and influence rising steadily, especially after the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. The government and people of Laos value and commend the historic victories and achievements of the Vietnamese Party, State, and people over the past 80 years. These successes serve as a source of encouragement and support for the Lao Party, State, and multi-ethnic people in their mission to protect and build the nation toward socialism.
On this occasion, more than 80 photographs were displayed under the theme ‘Memories of Laos-Vietnam Relations: Historical Milestones and Vietnam’s Achievements over 80 Years.’ The exhibition highlighted the shared history, sacrifices, solidarity, and enduring friendship between the two nations.
