Vientiane: Laos' inflation rate decreased to 7.4 percent in June, as revealed by recent data from the ministry. The housing, water, electricity, and gas category experienced the highest year-on-year increase at 20.1 percent, remaining the largest contributor to the overall inflation rate.According to Lao News Agency, other categories that saw significant price increases included education, which rose by 12.3 percent, followed by medical care and medicines at 11.8 percent, and communications and transport at 11.6 percent. The decline in the overall inflation rate reflects the government's ongoing efforts to stabilize the economy while supporting sustainable growth.To further manage inflationary pressures, the government plans to continue implementing prudent monetary policies in collaboration with the Bank of the Lao PDR (BOL). These strategies involve issuing central bank bonds to manage liquidity, stabilizing exchange rates, and employing other policy tools to maintain monetary stability and bolster conf idence in the national economy.The government has reiterated its commitment to preserving macroeconomic stability.
