The celebration marked the founding of the army from January 20, 1949, to January 20, 2026, highlighting its enduring legacy and contributions.According to Lao News Agency, the ceremony was attended by prominent figures including General Chansamon Chanyalath, Deputy Prime Minister, and Lieutenant General Vongsone Inpanphim, Deputy Minister of National Defence and Head of the Military Political Department. The event also saw the presence of leadership committee members, command staff, and other relevant officials.General Chansamon Chanyalath, during his address, reflected on the historical formation, development, and expansion of the Lao People's Army. He underscored its significant role during the national liberation struggle against imperialist aggression and colonialism. The army's contributions to national defence and development were highlighted as key strategic tasks.The estab lishment of the Lao People's Army was described as a pivotal historical milestone in the revolutionary movement. It marked a crucial step in strengthening the armed forces and supporting the Lao people's fight for national independence, sovereignty, and the well-being of the multi-ethnic population.General Chansamon Chanyalath also recounted the army's evolution from its beginnings as the Latxavong Force, its renaming to the Free Lao Army, followed by the Lao People's Liberation Army, and its current identity as the Lao People's Army.In his concluding remarks, the Deputy Prime Minister urged the officers and soldiers to continue fostering the patriotic spirit of the Lao People's Army.
