Provincial Election Committee Reviews Election Preparations in Khounkham District

Khounkham: The Khammuan Provincial Election Committee visited Khounkham District to inspect the preparations for the upcoming elections of the 10th National Assembly (NA) and the 5th Provincial People's Councils (PPC).

According to Lao News Agency, the visit on January 21, 2026, aimed to assess the district's readiness for the elections. The delegation, led by Ms. Bang-on Xayasith, Vice President of the Khammuan Provincial People's Council, reviewed the organizational progress reported by the district election committee. This included the division of responsibilities among sub-committees, operational plans, budget management, and the collection of voter statistics.

Khounkham District, with a population of 25,123 people across 22 villages, has more than 17,700 eligible voters. The report noted that over 1,200 voters are currently residing outside the district, and over 1,100 eligible voters are working abroad. To accommodate the voters, 23 polling stations and 4 mobile voting units have been established across the district.

During the visit, officials discussed preparations aimed at ensuring the elections' success according to four key targets: achieving 100% voter turnout, ensuring 100% accuracy in the voting process, maintaining 100% security throughout the election, and ensuring 100% transparency in all electoral procedures.
