National Election Committee Reviews Election Preparations in Attapeu Province

Attapeu: A delegation from the National Election Committee (NEC) visited Attapeu Province to review and encourage preparations for the upcoming elections for the 10th National Assembly and the 5th Provincial People's Councils. The delegation was led by Mr. Santiphab Phomvihane, a member of the Party Central Committee and of the NEC, and included Mr. Thongly Sisoulith, a member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Youth Union.

According to Lao News Agency, the delegation was welcomed by Lt. Gen. Vanthong Kongmany, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial Election Committee, and Ms. Minaphone Xaysomphou, Vice President of the Provincial People's Council and Vice Chair of the Provincial Election Committee. Ms. Minaphone Xaysomphou reported on the completion of the initial preparation phase, which included the official appointment of the Provincial Election Committee, drafting of operational plans, and training of key provincial officials on election procedures and documents.

She further stated that the province is preparing to announce the list of candidates and is in the process of collecting and verifying data on eligible voters. Preparations for election materials, such as ballot boxes, ballots, candidate biographies, voter certificates, and official badges, are also underway. Provincial officials are providing support to district-level staff to ensure a thorough understanding of all election regulations.

Mr. Santiphab Phomvihane emphasized the importance of translating the guidance from the recent 12th National Party Congress into concrete actions for a successful election. He highlighted the need to promote the election as a "Big Festival" for the people, aiming for it to be a joyous and lawful event. He urged for urgent mobilization efforts to encourage full citizen participation, ensuring the election meets all its objectives.
