Vientiane province: A technical training workshop on news production was held on Feb 24, 2026, in Keo-Oudom District, Vientiane Province, hosted by Lao National Radio. The event gathered participants from five Confucius Classrooms, with notable attendees including Ms. Simmany Keokaen, Director General of Lao National Radio, and Mr. Viengvatthana Chanaphane, Deputy Director General and Head of the Confucius Classroom.
According to Lao News Agency, Ms. Simmany Keokaen highlighted the importance of modernizing news production to cater to the demands of rapid communication and the increasing competition within the media sector. She stressed the necessity for journalists and media personnel to enhance their practical skills in various areas such as information gathering, interviewing, news writing, photography, videography, and editing. The aim is to ensure content that is accurate, timely, and responsive to public needs.
The training session is designed to boost professional capacity and deepen participants' knowledge of essential reporting and media editing techniques. This will be achieved through a combination of theoretical instruction and practical exercises. The workshop is set to continue until Feb 26, 2026.
