Cebu City: Alternative Recording Devices (ARDs) connected to the Regional Election Monitoring and Action Center (REMAC) were installed in more than 2,000 polling places in Central Visayas to help ensure the integrity and security of the election process. In a briefing on Monday, Police Col. Arvie Paraon-Bueno, chief regional legal officer and spokesperson of the Police Regional Office Central Visayas (PRO-7), said the system provided real-time monitoring of procedures and polling places during the midterm polls on Monday.
According to Philippines News Agency, the live streaming system allowed officials to observe the election process to maintain its integrity. Police Col. Arvie Paraon-Bueno emphasized that this was the first time such a system had been implemented in Central Visayas, providing a recorded account of election procedures. The PRO-7 reported that the conduct of the mid-term polls in the region was generally peaceful as of 1 p.m.
Bueno noted that there were isolated incidents before election day, including two liquor ban violations in Mambaling, Cebu City around 1 a.m. and in Minglanilla, Cebu, around 8 a.m. on Sunday. Additionally, ten individuals were arrested for violating the gun ban as of May 10.
