Vientiane: Mr. Bounthong Chitmany, Vice President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR), recently received a farewell visit from Ms. Siv-Leng Chhuor, the Ambassador of France to Lao PDR, marking the completion of her diplomatic mission in the country.
According to Lao News Agency, Mr. Bounthong Chitmany acknowledged the significant contributions made by Ambassador Chhuor during her four-year service. He highlighted her active involvement in enhancing the cooperative relations between France and Lao PDR. The Vice President expressed gratitude for the assistance provided by the French government, particularly through the French Development Agency, which has played a vital role in the development of Laos. He extended his best wishes to Ambassador Chhuor for a safe journey back to France and success in her future endeavors.
In her response, Ambassador Siv-Leng Chhuor expressed her appreciation for the support she received from the Vice President and the leadership of the Lao Party and State throughout her mission. She praised Laos' recent achievements, notably the official visit to France in 2024 by President Thongloun Sisoulith. Ambassador Chhuor reaffirmed her commitment to further strengthening the bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
The diplomatic relations between Lao PDR and France have been in place since October 22, 1953.
