Vientiane: Vice President Bounthong Chitmany of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic welcomed General Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security of Vietnam, during his delegation’s goodwill visit to Laos on July 30, 2025.
According to Lao News Agency, the visit coincided with the handover ceremony for a new treatment and rehabilitation center for drug addicts in Vientiane Province. Additionally, the visit marked the official launch of the digital citizen identification system and card in Laos. Vice President Bounthong praised General Luong Tam Quang’s leadership and the Vietnamese delegation’s contributions to the successful execution of both events.
Vice President Bounthong highlighted the importance of these achievements in strengthening the special solidarity and cooperation between Laos and Vietnam. He emphasized the need for continued collaboration between the Ministries of Public Security of both countries to further advance their mutual interests.
He also expressed gratitude to the Vietnamese government and its Ministry of Public Security for their ongoing support, particularly in the areas of drug rehabilitation and digital identification systems.
In response, General Luong Tam Quang thanked Vice President Bounthong for the warm reception and acknowledged the successful outcomes of his visit, describing the handover and launch as significant milestones in the bilateral cooperation between Laos and Vietnam.
