Vientiane: General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee To Lam, along with a high-ranking delegation from Vietnam, arrived in Vientiane to commence a state visit to the Lao People's Democratic Republic. The visit marks a significant moment in the relations between the neighboring countries.
According to Lao News Agency, the Vietnamese delegation was welcomed at Wattay International Airport by Deputy Prime Minister Vilay Lakhamfong and senior Lao officials. This visit was extended as an invitation from General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee and Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith, showcasing the ongoing commitment to fostering bilateral relations.
This state visit follows the successful organization of the 14th National Congress of the CPV and the 12th National Congress of the LPRP. The choice of Laos as the first overseas destination for General Secretary To Lam in his new term emphasizes Vietnam's policy of prioritizing its relationship with Laos.
The visit is the first hosted by Laos since its 12th National Party Congress and follows the recent visit to Vietnam by Thongloun Sisoulith, who was the first foreign head of state to visit Vietnam after the CPV's 14th National Congress. Both visits underline the mutual efforts to enhance cooperation.
The aim of the visit is to further solidify the friendship, solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, ensuring the Vietnam-Laos relationship continues to grow in a substantive and effective manner.
